You must not be a security risk to New Zealand and must satisfy all character requirements.
You are allowed to visit New Zealand only for a period up to 9 months in an 18 month period. This period may be extended to 12 months given you need more time to complete your tourist itinerary or can’t leave the country due to reasons beyond your control or have applied for a residence for the first time.
You must display an intention to leave New Zealand before the expiry of your visa. In case the officer senses any other intention, chances are you’ll be denied the visa.
You must have sufficient funds to support yourself while you are in New Zealand and must not there mustn’t be unnecessary burden on the country’s economy due to your presence.
You are strictly not allowed to work on this visa, although you may study up to 3 months.

Student Parent Visits

Additionally, you must show that you have sufficient funds to support yourself while you’re there. Ordinarily, you’re not allowed to work or study in New Zealand on this visa unless the express purpose for which you came was studying or you were granted the visa to work for a recognized seasonal employer.
